Clarks boots

A shot of my new ankle length chelsea boots. I’m in the middle of a messy bedroom – sorry!

Shoes: Clarks*

So after the dress of my dreams come the boots: a small heel, mock suede chelseas. I first spied these on my friend Carmen and eagerly questioned her where they were from. Imagine my shock when she said Clarks! I know that Clarks have been more style-conscious of late, but I’d always found them out of my budget so never really looked.

I’d planned on getting myself a pair when I got paid (and back from holiday!), but as luck would have it I was contacted by the lovely people at MyVoucherCodes asking if I wanted to review a pair. I don’t talk about how I use them but I’ve used the site for a long time – there’s always an amazing bargain to be had on there when it comes to clothes so it’s always worth checking it out before you buy something in case there’s a discount on there. Obviously, I couldn’t say no. And I tell you what, they are glorious!

Same mess, same boots – now with added blur!

I got a size 61/2E and they fit like a dream. The shoes are £59.99, but at the moment you can get them for 20% off with one of the Clarks discount codes – £12 in this case, making them under 50 quid. And the thing with Clarks is, you know they’re great quality and will last. So expect to see them very often over the winter!

Oh I have to say – they’re also available in zebra print. I think I might have to go there…

So there’s quite a funny story about this dress of mine. I’m signed up to this wholesale site in the US that does junior plus sizes, and I always have a look to see what’s available. I saw this, and nearly fell off my seat! I of course did what comes naturally: talked about it on twitter. The thing is, I forget that now people actually read my tweets and I’m not just shouting into the abyss any more. So when I said “I think a boutique should get this in, because it will SELL” I didn’t expect someone to tweet me back going “ok, we’ve just bought it in – it drops next month!” OMG. Instantly I went into a panic, thinking what if they’ve bought it because of me and no one buys it and they make a loss? Argh! I’ve had almost no money over, well, the past two years, so frivolous dress purchases have been sadly off my radar but I managed to save up and get it – and a few other bits, because Eddy & Bri had a $50 for $100 worth of clothes voucher at the time!

As it turned out, my fears were unfounded: the dress sold out pretty quickly, and I actually had to wait for my dress. But I’m not sorry. I LOVE IT. Now I just need an awesome party to wear it to…

Hello lovelies! This is another review post, as due to a delay earlier in the year Lovedrobe said I could choose two items. This is from their Koko range, which is stocked at New Look. I love all the wine and berry tones of autumn so I had to choose this dress, and it’s just gorgeous. I have no problems with it! It’s going to get so much wear, I know it! The dress isn’t on site yet, but it will be soon. You can also keep an eye out for Lovedrobe and Koko at One Stop Plus, Evans and House of Fraser.

And another pose. I love this posing lark, clearly.

Hope you’re well my dears, and speak soon!

Hello peeps! I hope you’re all very well? Look, it’s me again, and this time I’m smiling. Now you can see why I don’t do it very often, haha.

It’s not intentional that it’s taken me this long to photograph an outfit – have you missed me? I assumed I’d snap what I was wearing before leaving for work every day, but as you can imagine the snooze button manages to get in the way of that. Indeed, this is a recreation of what I wore for my first day in my new job! I’d been told it was “smart casual” but went for smart, just in case. I’ve relaxed a lot since then though.

This dress was one of two gifts from the lovely people at Lovedrobe. I was really excited when they offered as I’d literally spent the whole summer swooning over their dresses without the money to buy, so snapped them right up! This dress is in a 22/24, and feels lovely and breezy. My only gripe is the sleeves: they’re too long for my short arms which got a bit annoying by the end of the day, but I may take the wrists in.

What do you reckon, folks? To smile or not to smile?

*I’ve seen it on other blogs and it seems an easy way to identify things that were gifted. So if you see this it means it was sent for review!

ASOS Curve AW12

Sometimes I feel like straight size brands with plus ranges give us collective bad crush syndrome; you know, how we ache desperately for them to notice us, and every now and again they throw a scrap of attention and affection our way to our absolute giddy delight. I was certainly guilty of this when I squealed at my email inbox this afternoon on seeing ASOS Curve had shot an AW12 lookbook. No regrets, though. I thought I was done with lookbooks, but oh no. I just had to put it here!

How awesome is this dogtooth print dress, though?

The feel and style is very, very different to my usual feminine opulence: hard, lean, and minimal (and delightfully queer, which is so awesome) are this season’s keywords. I’m obviously swooning hard over the dresses, but I still appreciate this look, especially when most plus size shoots tend to focus on “womanly curves” and hyper-femininity.

I just love it. And how gorgeous is that model?

Can’t wait to see what they have planned for spring and summer!

*This post features sponsored content, but the words are my own and I meant every one of them. I mean come on, you know how I feel about ASOS!

Swan AW12

The second instalment of Swan, Evans’ designer collaboration with Clements Ribiero, dropped online today. Some lovely bloggers attended a press event last week so I had some idea of what the collection looked like, but I absolutely adore the lookbook with Robyn Lawley and had to put some of that gorgeousness on my blog!

It’s just all so gorgeous, isn’t it? I think I might prefer this collection to their debut. I just love the sultry glamour and sophistication of it all, like a modern film noir heroine. It also really tickles me that Bethany and Deena paired the mimosa print trousers and top as a jumpsuit to the horror of Evans‘ facebook fans, and here it is represented just as beautifully! See? Trust your fatshion bloggers. They know what’s what. (haha)

aI’m not sure when the clothes arrive in store, but I’m definitely planning to head down after work and do another dressing room post. Let me know if you’re going too, we could have a dressing room party!

If you’re ordering online, make sure to use the code LUCKY20 for 20% off the range. What are you gonna buy?
