Oh. My. God.

The dresses went on sale Friday. Some of the sizes are sold out already, and Simply Be are getting more stock in to fill the demand. I’ve bought all three dresses and they’re just divine. I’m so happy with mine, and Laura and Em did such an incredible job on theirs.

Thank you so much, all of you who attended the event in Manchester two weeks ago, who have said lovely things about my dress design, bought it, or just been supportive. Thanks to the AMAZING Simply Be team for being excellent.

This has been the best experience blogging has brought me, and I’m SO damn lucky.

Thank you. x

OneOneThree

Oh my glob, you guys. It finally happened.

After years of swooning over awesome independent designers in the US, Australia and mainland Europe, and being damned to shockingly expensive shipping costs and customs charges. Edgy independent fatshion has stepped up in the UK, in the name of OneOneThree. AT LAST. I’d seen murmurings of the name on twitter but only got a chance to have a look today, and my mind is a bit blown. I’ll just let the photos do the talking, eh?

I just can’t believe how on point it all is. Studs. Pleather. Collars. Illusions. It’s so exciting! Hence why I’m posting this in a rush – I just want you guys to see it!

The pieces aren’t up for sale yet, so make sure you keep in touch with them via twitter and facebook (where you can see the AMAZING photos). I’m just so happy someone in the UK is doing this!

Anyone else as excited as I am?

ASOS Curve AW12

Sometimes I feel like straight size brands with plus ranges give us collective bad crush syndrome; you know, how we ache desperately for them to notice us, and every now and again they throw a scrap of attention and affection our way to our absolute giddy delight. I was certainly guilty of this when I squealed at my email inbox this afternoon on seeing ASOS Curve had shot an AW12 lookbook. No regrets, though. I thought I was done with lookbooks, but oh no. I just had to put it here!

ASOS Curve AW12

How awesome is this dogtooth print dress, though?

The feel and style is very, very different to my usual feminine opulence: hard, lean, and minimal (and delightfully queer, which is so awesome) are this season’s keywords. I’m obviously swooning hard over the dresses, but I still appreciate this look, especially when most plus size shoots tend to focus on “womanly curves” and hyper-femininity.

I just love it. And how gorgeous is that model?

Can’t wait to see what they have planned for spring and summer!

*This post features sponsored content, but the words are my own and I meant every one of them. I mean come on, you know how I feel about ASOS!

Swan AW12

The second instalment of Swan, Evans’ designer collaboration with Clements Ribiero, dropped online today. Some lovely bloggers attended a press event last week so I had some idea of what the collection looked like, but I absolutely adore the lookbook with Robyn Lawley and had to put some of that gorgeousness on my blog!

It’s just all so gorgeous, isn’t it? I think I might prefer this collection to their debut. I just love the sultry glamour and sophistication of it all, like a modern film noir heroine. It also really tickles me that Bethany and Deena paired the mimosa print trousers and top as a jumpsuit to the horror of Evans‘ facebook fans, and here it is represented just as beautifully! See? Trust your fatshion bloggers. They know what’s what. (haha)

aI’m not sure when the clothes arrive in store, but I’m definitely planning to head down after work and do another dressing room post. Let me know if you’re going too, we could have a dressing room party!

If you’re ordering online, make sure to use the code LUCKY20 for 20% off the range. What are you gonna buy?

Monif C fall 2012

I hope you’re all enjoying flicking through the lookbooks for this season! So far there’s been Anna Scholz, Carmakoma, Jibri and now the phenomenal Monif C. Monif C has turned into something of a plus size fashion powerhouse, and every new collection manages to induce a website crash with everyone trying to order! I don’t think her selection of dresses for autumn and winter 2012 will have any different effect – just look at these beauties:

Aren’t they amazing? I couldn’t help but gasp when I caught sight of these dresses, honestly. I love the superhero/supervillain vibes of the Camille and Dana dresses especially!

What do you think, peeps?

Jibri Fall 2012

I couldn’t talk about lookbooks without including Jibri, especially not this season. Yet more autumn/winter realness. No matter what they do they really have a signature style in their exaggerated silhouettes, either voluminous, as in the jumpsuits and gigantic skirts, or the snap-tight bodycon dresses and pencil skirts. That they’ve included (faux) leather options is salivating. I. Need. That. Skirt.

What really jumps out at me, especially this collection and the Carmakoma collections, is that it doesn’t feel like I’m looking at a plus size specific collection if you know what I mean. They could be from any number of boutiques that aren’t limited to doing over a certain size. Even now that is still so rare that when I am confronted with it, it really impresses me. Jasmine Elder, I doff my cap to you!

Whoa – everything went a little quiet there, didn’t it? Well that’s because, by some small miracle, I landed myself a job! YEAH! So I am ridiculously happy for the moment, albeit with a little less time on my hands than usual. But let’s finish what we started – I was in the middle of showcasing my favourite lookbooks by indie plus size designers, wasn’t I?

Of course I have to get some Carmakoma goodness on my page, especially as they’ve recently debuted LAB27, a cheaper offshoot from the main brand. Their collections just get better and better every season. Here are my top picks:

betulis_red_lowbuzzard_low

camellia_lowcepa_low

chat_lowclematis_pink_low

droceras_sugar_lowfrancolin_paintdrop_low

My absolute fave has to be the Clematis dress in pink – it’s also available in black and white, and as a baroque ruffled shirt. I’m just in love with all of it though!

And some of my favourite LAB27 items:

32 ibis_1_lowKopi af erantis_low

29 odeon_low26 bunting_2_low

They’re just all so stunning, I can’t help it. While the plus size roster of designers is small, I think we’re so lucky to have women like Weiss&Lykke on our side. Can’t wait to purchase something for myself with my new source of funds!

Hello everyone, how are you all?

Continuing with the lookbook theme on the blog, I really wanted to share the amazing Anna Scholz‘s autumn and winter collections. I absolutely love the photography, especially the doll-like looks for Black Label. I’ll let you enjoy…

Aren’t they all gorgeous? Now, if only I can win the lottery this week…

Hi my lovelies, I hope you’re all well?

There have been so many wonderful lookbooks popping up for AW12 that I’ll be posting them all on the blog this week, so we can all bask in lovely clothes. First up, here’s a peek at Simply Be‘s AW12 video, with special behind the scenes footage – you can also click through the videos to shop what you see with an added 10% discount as a bonus.

The lovely TV advert, coming to a screen near you soon.
Behind the scenes with stylist Karen – I love what she has to say.
A little interview with the gorgeous Wendy, who possesses the greatest genes of all time. Lucky lady!
A talk with Candice – as Candice Huffine is one of the biggest names in plus modelling right now it’s really cool to see more of her character!
And finally model Justine does a little video diary. She’s so cute!
